Building business in crisis is something few of us would volunteer for, but all of us need to be able to do. If you want to be truly successful in business, you will undoubtedly face times of hardship that you need to work through.

There will be seasons, in business and in all areas of life where it feels like pressures are coming from all sides. In recent times you may have been forced to deal with restrictions with your time, your money, and even your space. This may have exposed you to new challenges with your staffing and delivery of products and services You might have also needed to resolve infrastructure problems to create new methods and spaces for working.

All this upheaval can be incredibly disorienting … But I’d like to remind you today that the goal of your business hasn’t changed. Only the pathways you need to take to get there. Here are five key steps of how you can keep on pursuing that business ambition of yours, even though the goalposts feel like they’re moving.

Take Action!

If you’re pursuing business growth in the midst of crisis, it’s vital that you tweak aspects of your business. Modify your service delivery, create new products and services, invent new ways of doing things .. proactively respond to the situation you’re in right now. Procrastination will only lead to stress, lost opportunities, and ultimately failure. There is no more waiting. Find new strategies and pathways to achieving your business aims.

Plan Strategically

Once you’re in go mode, activating new steps, it’s important that you work strategically. Turn that big picture dream into a specific strategic plan that’s going to work to see you through the next 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, even next few years. Developing a strategic plan is going to be about putting all of the big pieces together. Pull together a team to support you. Develop the infrastructure that you need. Set up a budget to make that new strategy happen.

Step Out!

Turn that big plan into very specific action steps that you can take, and that your team can take, over the next day, week, month, year, to make that Strategic Action Plan into a reality. Your success ub building busines in crisis always comes down to where the rubber hits the road. What are you actually doing in your day-to-day life to create that dream and turn it into a reality in your business?

Create Systems

The only way you can grow a business that can run without you is to systemize. This is a vital step that many get stuck on. With your action plan running, and things starting to flow again, it’s easy to think you have arrived. But unless you systemize it and create ways for that thing to run without you, you will be vulnerable to the next crisis that will inevitably come in time. Only systems can create business certainty in business.

Sustain Longterm

Developing business systems is not a one-time event. The lesson you learn from building business in crisis is that processes need to be kept clean and up to date if they are going to last.  Make it a priority to keep your business systems updated and always improving. After all, this is your freedom machine we’re talking about here. This is all about building a business bigger than yourself. You can only do this with the support of robust structures, systems, and processes that make you resilient and able to withstand crisis.

Over recent times you may have faced unavoidable challenges or even stoppages in your business. You will make it through if you follow these five steps to ensure your business mission can still stay alive, even amidst adversity.
