Routines That Work When You’re Working From Home

Managing your business from home can be so rewarding if you get things working in flow. These days everybody seems to be working from home at least part of the time. This is a great opportunity to maintain the work/life balance we’ve all been trying to achieve over the years. People love it so much that 99% of workers say that if they could, they would choose to work remotely at least part time for the rest of their careers.
This new working environment has evolved for owners and managers as well. Managing your business from home takes a whole new set of skills that have had to be learned.

So today we will look at some routines to really help you when you’re working or managing your business from home.
Create A Work Space You Love:
Firstly, make a place where you are personally inspired. A space that feels really great. Make sure you’ve got a fast, reliable, and secure internet connection. Invest in a quality desk chair setup so you’re comfortable and looking after your health as well. Finally, keep a clean and well organised workspace. Creating this kind of work space encourages fabulous productivity and brings out your best work. Everything will come easier once you’ve set it up. You’ll want to jump out of bed in the morning to get started!
Follow Routines For Balanced Flow:
Set up a work schedule for yourself and follow the routine quite strictly. This will help you maintain focus and not get distracted. Using tech tools to focus and concentrate is a fabulous way to keep productivity up. Tools like Trello, Asana, Monday.com, and Dashboard Online are invaluable when managing your business from home. Shower and dress comfortably. Look after yourself by exercising at least 30 minutes each day. Don’t forget to have lunch breaks! Of course, having healthy snacks and water on your desk will help you stay supercharged and fresh.
Foster Productive Communications:
Make sure to have regular, or even schedule updates to keep people connected. It’s important to set clear guidelines around communication. This also means making sure your messaging and emails are fluid but precise. Keep communication rolling so you don’t get isolated from your team. When you’re communicating more complicated messages, use screencast videos or screenshots. This will help to ensure you’re conveying essential details clearly. As a manager, it’s vital to keep people in touch and clear on updates.
This is a tough one when working from home! We all have other things happening, but try to minimise distractions. It can be easy to get stuck in procrastination, so try to avoid it by taking fast action. Set a specific quiet zone around your home office so you can avoid distractions there. Establish healthy boundaries to maintain your work/life balance. When you’re on, you’re on, and when you’re off, you’re off. Keep a really clear list of priorities, so you know you’re doing the most productive work you can be at any given time.
