Being a business owner can be a little overwhelming. Setting goals for your business is a great way to break down your work into more manageable pieces. Amazingly, those businesses that have set themselves goals are 10 times more likely to succeed. Unfortunately, though, business owners face daily constraints of workloads that never seem to end and jobs piling up. It can be difficult to cut through it all and take some good first steps towards the goals you’ve set for yourself. An astonishing 92% of goals that are set are never achieved!

So let’s take a look at five key things you can do to accelerate the achievement of your business goals.

CLARIFY VISION:

Firstly, establish a really clear vision of exactly what those goals are. What does success in your business look like? You might be building a big empire and you’re out for global domination. Or perhaps you’re looking for something simpler like a comfortable, rewarding lifestyle with your friends and family. The reality is you need to have a crystal clear idea of what success looks like for you. Once you’ve got that crystal clear picture outlined you will know exactly what it is that you’re working towards. Then you’ll be able to make plans to achieve those aims. And you’ll know when you’ve made it.

PURSUE CHANGE:

The next step is to pursue that goal by implementing a change in mindset. No matter what’s happening in your business or how cumbersome the workload feels, it’s vital that you set aside the time, headspace and resources to achieve that change. By pursuing this with real dedication you instil a cultural change in your business. The value of change itself becomes the platform that allows you to make forward progress. This is the kind of dedication that helps you achieve the aims you’ve worked so hard for.

STRATEGIC RESOURCES:

Strategic resources are a potent ally in achieving your goals. They may be off the shelf resources like apps, websites and software platforms you can use to fast track the achievement of your goals. Or you could develop your customised tools. Create unique checklists, templates and workflows for your business. If you need help with making these, ask an expert. Using the right tools for the job can easily double your productivity at work and accelerate the achievement of your vision.

ACCEPT HELP:

The next thing we should look at is accepting help. Reach out to supportive people around you to make this an effective, efficient process. And, do not be afraid to accept help from those who offer it. It can be tempting to try to do it all yourself, but getting help will minimise your burden. Putting yourself on a fast track often involves getting help from people that have been there before, and achieved what you want to achieve. That way it won’t take you a lifetime to realise some of the rewards you could have now in your business.

BE CONSISTENT:

Finally, you need consistency to make your goals into reality. As you know, it’s easy to put in a burst in the new year or the new quarter, but it’s the consistent application of these previous four points that will keep you chipping away at your business goals. This is probably the most important element of goal setting. By consistently implementing steps to achieve the vision, you get closer and closer to your goals. Achieving them is the only way to reap the rewards you’ve been working towards.

So there you go, five little tips on how to achieve the goals you’ve set in your business. I hope that you find it helpful, and I would love to hear what some of the goals are in your business. What are you working towards? How have you set about achieving them? What does success look like for you?
